The Loveland Rotary Club (Colorado) has for over ten years has had Veterans Day recognition programs. The programs include posting of the colors by high school Junior ROTC cadets; display of all five service flags (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Air Force) and the POW/MIA flag; recognition of men and women who have served in the Arrned Forces (Our club has veterans from all services except the Coast Guard.); and guest speakers that have included Army, Navy, and Air Force ROTC commanders from Colorado State University and the University of Colorado; a former US Air Force Thunderbird pilot; and a historian of the 10th Mountain Division.
Our next Veterans Day recognition program on November 5th will include a speaker who was a US Navy fighter pilot who was shot down over North Vietnam and who spent almost six years as a POW.
In addition, our club has also had similar programs for Memorial Day.
The Loveland community also has very active VFW and American Legion posts that conduct their own observances.
